The Michigan Aynoka Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting food security in Lansing, Michigan. We collaborate with community members in the Capital Area to establish a network of resources and support for addressing food insecurity.
The Michigan Aynoka Project is also an active urban agroecosystem (agroecology/agroforestry) research project. We have been integrating perennial woody plants native to the Great Lakes region into an urban agroecological setting. The concept is to produce food that relies on the ecosystem services provided by Native plants, pollinators, and other ecological allies.
